Notion to Google Drive in three steps
01
Connect Notion
Sign in with Notion and share the teamspaces and pages you want protected. The access is read-only, so we can't change anything.
02
Connect Google Drive
One OAuth click. Backup Notion creates its own folder and can't see any of your other Drive files, because we use Google's most restricted scope.
03
Pick a schedule
Daily, weekly, or monthly, in your timezone. Each finished backup uploads to your folder automatically, and our copy is deleted once Drive confirms.
Everything in your workspace
Every backup covers all pages and nested subpages, databases with their properties, images, PDFs, and attachments from the teamspaces you authorize, exported as clean Markdown that mirrors your workspace structure. Pro plans include comments too.
Google Drive questions
Where do backups appear in my Drive?
In a folder Backup Notion creates, named “Notion Backups” by default and renameable in settings. Each backup is a single ZIP: Markdown files mirroring your workspace structure, your media, and an offline viewer.
Can Backup Notion see my other Drive files?
No. We use Google's drive.file scope, which only grants access to files the app itself creates. Your documents, photos, and everything else are invisible to us.
Do you keep a copy on your servers?
No. Once Google Drive confirms the upload, we delete our working copy. The only copy is the one in your Drive.
Does this work with Google Workspace accounts?
Yes, personal Gmail and Google Workspace accounts both work. If your Workspace admin restricts third-party app access, they may need to allow Backup Notion first.
Will backups use up my Google storage?
Backups count against your Google storage like any other file. Each one is a single ZIP whose size you can see in your run history, and old backups are yours to keep or delete.
How do I revoke access?
Two ways: disconnect Google Drive in the Backup Notion dashboard, or revoke the app from your Google Account's third-party access settings. Revoking on Google's side cuts us off immediately.
Can backups go to a shared drive?
Not yet. Backups go to a folder in your My Drive today. If your team needs shared drive delivery, tell us at hello@backupnotion.to.
How do I restore from a Drive backup?
Download the ZIP and unzip it. You can browse it offline with the bundled viewer, open the Markdown in any editor, or import the files back into Notion, which accepts Markdown imports.
